Haiti u godit sot nga një tërmet me magnitudë 7,2 ballë të shkallës Rihter, 12 kilometra në verilindje të Saint-Louis du Sud.

Shërbimi Gjeologjik Amerikan raportoi se tërmeti kishte thellësi prej 10 km. Tërmeti u raportua rreth orës 08:30 me orën lokale në verilindje të qytetit Saint-Louis-du-Sud.

Dridhjet e forta u ndjenë në gjithë vendin dhe tashmë janë regjistruar edhe dëme materiale në lokalitetet Jérémie dhe Les Cayes, sipas pamjeve që kanë sjellë dëshmitarët.
